Hello! I’m Sarah, an editor and proofreader based in Bristol, UK.

I love working with words – I’ve been a content and editorial professional since 2006 and have acquired a wide range of professional experience from a diverse spectrum spanning online content, business management and administration, marketing strategy, live music, the arts, and the wonders of the natural sciences.

Throughout my career, I’ve been lucky to work with all sorts of people from a variety of backgrounds and industries – my clients include entrepreneurs and solopreneurs, SMEs and larger businesses, not-for-profits, authors, bloggers, students, and more.

I’m also an avid live music fan with over a decade of experience in content and editorial management for a UK-wide live entertainment website specialising in gigs and ticketing. This has given me an excellent insight into what fans, bookers and agents are looking for from band and venue websites.

Professional qualifications
Working with words is a continual learning process. Making sure all my clients get the best possible service requires keeping myself up-to-date and extending my knowledge and skill set.
I regularly take training courses and attend industry conferences to improve my ability to proofread and copyedit and to update my skills in using industry-standard software by Microsoft and Adobe CC, including Word, Excel, Acrobat DC and InDesign.
Undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications
With a long-held fascination for the natural sciences (and a particular interest in volcanology), I studied for an Earth Science degree at the Open University, graduating in 2015 with a BSc (Hons).
I followed this up with an MSc in Earth Science (again with the OU), researching the effects on regional and global climate due to massive volcanic eruptions. To say I was over the moon to be awarded my master’s degree in 2020 is an understatement!
I am an Intermediate Member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP), a UK-based non-profit body promoting excellence in English language editing.
To become a member of the institute at this level requires high-quality training and demonstrating through work experience that I have put my training into practice to embed my skills.
What this means for you is that you can be confident in my abilities to carry out proofreading and editing work for you to a high standard.
As a member of the institute, I also abide by the CIEP Professional Practice Code.
